- Q: How to replace the Air Bag Sensor Rear on 2005 Toyota Prius?A: The approach to replace the Air Bag Sensor Rear remains identical for both right-hand and left-hand sides yet this document applies the specific steps to the installation on the left-hand side. The procedure starts with removing the negative terminal of the battery before taking out the rear seat assembly and its component frames. Once the connector of the Air Bag sensor rear is separated disconnect the two bolts that secure it. During new Air Bag sensor rear installation disable the power switch and disconnect the battery negative terminal before waiting 90 seconds minimum to begin work. Use 17.5 Nm (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) when installing the Air Bag sensor rear by screwing it in with the two bolts. Unnecessary replacement of the Air Bag sensor rear is required when you either drop it or detect damages to it. The SRS wiring installation must avoid interference with other components and proper checks of loose installation components must be performed. The procedure concludes by connecting the connector to the Air Bag sensor rear and reattaching the battery negative terminal before system initialization according to instructions followed by SRS warning light inspection.
