  • Q: How to service the Engine Control Module (ECM) on 2006 Scion xB?
    A: The procedure to service the Engine Control Module (ECM) starts by disconnecting the negative battery cable and waiting 90 seconds and above to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Start by taking off the glove compartment door assembly and then disconnect the 4 ECM connectors before taking out the ECM by removing its 2 bolts and the 2 screws from the ECM bracket and the 2 screws from both the No. 2 and No. 3 ECM brackets. You must install the No. 3 ECM bracket with its two screws first and proceed to add the No. 2 ECM bracket secured with its two screws followed by attaching the ECM bracket using two screws and finish with securing the ECM using its two bolts with a torque of 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf). Reinstallation of the glove compartment door assembly must follow after linking the 4 ECM connectors and completing cable connection to the negative battery terminal.
