2006 Scion xB Coolant Temperature Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on 2006 Scion xB?
A: Disconnection of the negative battery terminal cable must start with a 90-second wait to avoid activating Air Bags and pretensioners in the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer) servicing process. Users should first remove the air cleaner assembly before disconnecting the engine wire through removal of two clamps. The sensor connector needs to be disconnected while you proceed to take out the engine coolant temperature sensor and its gasket. New installation begins with fitting a gasket on the sensor after which the sensor must be installed following a 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) torque guideline before connecting the sensor connector. Complete the procedure by restoring the engine wire clamps, reattaching the air cleaner assembly then ending with connecting the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
