• Q: How to install the brake booster assembly on 2006 Scion xB?

  A: The brake booster assembly installation starts with mounting the brake booster using new gasket while tightening the 4 nuts to 13 Nm torque. First install the push rod clevis onto the booster but apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the clevis pin before putting on the clip followed by the clevis pin. The clip should be placed in its correct position according to the illustration. First install the brake pedal return spring then connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster and place the clip accordingly. Follow this step by inspecting and readusting the push rod before adding the brake actuator assembly with bracket and completing the assembly with the brake master cylinder. Manual transaxle drivers must install the clutch reservoir tube through the clip until it reaches complete position. Moreover, install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the battery before pouring brake fluid into the reservoir. The technician must perform air bleeding on the brake master cylinder as well as the brake line and clutch line before adjusting brake pedal height and checking brake pedal free play and reserve distance. First check the reservoir brake fluid level and examine brake fluid leaks before connecting the cable to the negative terminal and using an intelligent tester on the brakes.
