2006 Scion xB Brake Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the brake master cylinder on 2006 Scion xB?
A: Installation of the brake master cylinder begins with applying lithium soap base glycol grease on two new grommets which should be installed onto the brake master cylinder followed by attaching the cap and strainer to the reservoir then locking the stopper in place while verifying that both components fit properly into their grooves. To connect the brake master cylinder to the booster apply 2 nuts and torque them to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Then attach the 2 brake lines to the brake master cylinder by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 at 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) without the tool or 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.) with it using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 inch). To continue the procedure of brake pedal assembly installation, first hook up the level warning light switch connector followed by sliding this clip to connect the clutch reservoir tube for manual transaxle then install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly before adding brake fluid to the reservoir. Next, perform air bleeding on the brake master cylinder and brake line and clutch line for manual transaxle. als and check the reservoir for brake fluid while inspecting for possible brake fluid leaks.
