- Q: How to replace the rear Sway Bar Kit on 2005 Toyota Solara?A: Replacing the rear sway bar kit needs the removal of the rear wheel to begin. First detach the rear sway bar link assembly on the left side by taking off the 2 nuts and sway bar link and when the ball joint turns with the nut apply a hexagon wrench (5 mm) to stabilize the stud. Perform the exact same procedure also for the right-hand side. Start with a 5-cycle ball joint stud movement before installing the nut followed by torque wrench nut manipulation through 3 to 5 seconds per turn for measuring 1.0 Nm (10 kgf-cm, 9 inch lbs.) with a 5th turn reading and discard the assembly if result exceeds 1.0 Nm. The dust cover should be checked for grease leakage and cracks while inspecting for unusual rattle or drag during rotational movement. The conversion process for removing the rear sway bar kit starts with disconnecting the floor panel brace rear's two bolts followed by removing the 4 member brace rear lower bolts from both sides and the 4 center floor panel reinforcement sub-assembly bolts from both sides then ending in removing the 8 bolts, 4 sway bar brackets, 2 sway bar bushes and the sway bar kit. Attach the sway bar bush to the outer stopper ring side of the sway bar kit before installing the 2 sway bar bushes and 4 sway bar brackets along with their corresponding 8 bolts to a torqueness of 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). Check that bolts (A, B) are used correctly. Both sides of the center floor panel reinforcement sub-assembly require installation using 4 bolts at 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft. lbs.). Subsequently, the member brace rear lower must be attached with 4 bolts at 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft. lbs.); and 51 Nm (520 kgf-cm, 38 ft. lbs.) requiring 2 bolts for the floor panel brace rear. Place the left-hand rear sway bar link assembly while tightening 2 nuts to 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.) that requires a 5 mm hexagon wrench. Clients need to reinstall the rear wheel after tightening each bolt to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
