2005 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the Front Wheel Speed Sensor (SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH) on 2005 Toyota Sienna?
A: A proper replacement of the Front Wheel Speed Sensor (SPEED SENSOR FRONT LH) requires removal of both front wheel and front fender liner LH. The first step involves disconnecting the speed sensor connector and removing the sensor harness with its clamp from the body before removing the two clamp bolts which secure the harness and clamp to the body as well as shock absorber. For sensor replacement of the speed sensor front LH start by removing the bolt while protecting the sensor tip. Fasten the speed sensor front LH with the bolt and tighten it to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) while keeping the sensor tip protected. Fasten the sensor harness clamps by screwing in bolts A and B while torquing Bolt A to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) and Bolt B to 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). The sensor wire should not be twisted throughout this installation process. After attaching the clamp to the knuckle position one must guide the sensor harness with its clamp onto the body frame where the speed sensor connector can be reconnected. To complete the installation the technician must reinstall the front fender liner LH followed by the front wheel while torquing the wheel to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) before verifying the ABS speed sensor signal.
