One must drain brake fluid first when replacing the Brake Actuator Assembly (W/O VSC) while washing all fluid which comes into contact with painted surfaces. First use the air cleaner assembly hose to remove it from the vehicle while disconnecting the brake actuator with bracket through its connector latch where Service Tool 09023-00101 helps detach the brake tubes. Before removing the brake actuator assembly, ensure to mark or note the connection points for reassembly and then take out the three bolts. The brake actuator assembly can be disconnected from its bracket when you remove the two necessary nuts. Install the brake actuator assembly by thread in the two nuts to the bracket until it reaches 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.) of torque then install the three bolts with 20 Nm (199 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) torque before using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 for brake tube installation. Installation of the brake tubes requires Special Service Tool 09023-00101 to align them with the proper positions on the brake actuator before torquing to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) followed by reconnecting the brake actuator connector. After reinstalling the air cleaner assembly with its hose the technician should fill the brake fluid reservoir and use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 for master cylinder bleeding followed by brake line bleeding. The procedure ends with checking the fluid reservoir level and inspecting for brake fluid leakage and verifying brake actuator function through the Toyota hand-held device.

Torque the 2 nuts to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf).

Detach the two nuts.
