2003 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the rear Sway Bar Kit on 2003 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The first step to fix the rear sway bar kit begins with removing the rear wheels while applying 110 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) of torque. Place a jack under the rear axle housing before you remove the sway bar links by unfastening their 2 nuts and link, while applying a torques of 69 Nm (704 kgf-cm, 51 ft. lbs.). A hexagon wrench should be used for holding the ball joint stud when it turns with the nut. Complete this procedure on the second wheel side. Start by unscrewing the 4 bolts of the rear axle housing sway bar kit while also removing the bar itself with the bushings and brackets until the torque reaches 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.). The following step requires users to separate both brackets from the sway bar kit together with the bushings. An inspection of the sway bar link requires ball joint stud rotation in all directions until smooth free movement to determine if replacement is needed. Throughout installation the same steps are performed in the opposite direction of removal.
