Stabilizer Bar, Rear

The process of servicing and repairing the rear sway bar kit starts with wheel removal at 110 Nm or 1,150 kgf-cm or 83 ft. lbs. torque. Support the rear axle housing with a jack before you eliminate the sway bar links by unfastening their 2 nuts and sway bar link with a 69 Nm (704 kgf-cm, 51 ft. lbs.) torque. A hexagon wrench should be used to stabilize the ball joint stud when it rotates with the nut. Proceed with this step on the side opposite from the first. Extract the sway bar kit from the rear axle housing by unscrewing its 4 bolts with sway bar kit, bushings and brackets and tightening them to 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft. lbs.). Remove the sway bar kit from the rear axle housing then proceed to detach both brackets and bushings among the sway bar kit components. Perform inspection by rotating ball joint studs in every direction; any limited smooth and free motion requires substituting the sway bar link. The procedure for installation follows the reverse sequence by which removal took place.

Begin by removing the front stabilizer link assembly on both the left and right sides by disconnecting the stabilizer bar links from the lower suspension arm, using a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud if the ball joint turns with the nut.

Hold the link and remove the nut, then take off the link, 2 retainers, and bushings from the bar, repeating this process on the other side.

Remove the stabilizer bar links by taking off the 2 nuts and the stabilizer bar link, applying a torque of 69 Nm (704 kgf-cm, 51 ft. lbs.). If the ball joint stud turns with the nut, use a hexagon wrench to hold the stud. Repeat this process on the other side.

Remove the stabilizer bar by taking out the 2 bolts, nuts, and the bar along with the cushions and brackets, then detach the 2 brackets and cushions from the bar.
