2002 Toyota Celica Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the front wheel speed sensor on 2002 Toyota Celica?
A: Service and repair of the front wheel speed sensor begins with disconnecting the speed sensor connector after removing the front wheel using a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). The fender liner needs to be next removed before starting the repair process. The front wheel speed sensor connector together with its resin clip need to be separated. The speed sensor removal requires two clamp bolts securing the sensor harness to both body and shock absorber at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque before you can extract the speed sensor installation bolt from the steering knuckle which also needs to be tightened at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). Keep the sensor and the knuckle clear from foreign objects before tightening the bolt because the sensor must remain parallel to the knuckle surface. The installation process of a speed sensor requires the opposite order of what was done for removal and the signal should be checked post-installation.
