Service operations on the Vehicle Speed Sensor require battery removal and then ECM separation along with ECM case removal before starting on the ECM bracket. First disconnect the speed sensor connector before removing the vehicle speed sensor by unfastening the bolt then the clip with speedometer drive gear and removing the O-ring from the sensor. When installing the new component start by applying ATF to the O-ring before putting it on the vehicle speed sensor with the speedometer driven gear secured by the clip before installing the vessel speed sensor assembly with a bolt torque setting at 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 inch lbs.). Reestablish connection to the vehicle speed sensor after which the technician install the ECM bracket using a torque of 18 Nm (185 kgf-cm, 13 ft. lbs.) along with a nut torque of 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Afterwards reinstall the ECM and ECM case using a torque of 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 inch lbs.) before finally reinstalling the vehicle battery.
