    Q:
How to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring on Toyota Corolla? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the front shock absorber removal with coil spring by removing the front wheel and then the front wiper arm head cap and front wiper arm and blade assembly both for the LH and RH sides. The next step involves removing the hood to cowl top seal along with the center No.1 cowl top ventilator louver and cowl top ventilator louver LH. The first step involves removing the windshield wiper motor together with its link assembly after which technicians can remove the outer cowl top panel but only if it is not TMC made. Wrenches with hexagon heads of 6 mm length can be used to separate the nut on the front stabilizer link assembly when the ball joint rotates with the nut. During TMC made vehicle maintenance personnel should remove the separating bolt which disconnects the front speed sensor and its front flexible hose from the front shock absorber with coil spring. Vehicle owners with non-TMC made vehicles must perform the same process but must further uncouple the front speed sensor using the clamp. Owners need to take out the front suspension support dust cover on all editions of Toyota Corolla. After loosening the front shock absorber nut without removal, place a jack with wooden block under the front axle and remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts to separate the front shock absorber with coil spring through its connection with the steering knuckle. Then remove the 3 nuts and the front shock absorber. The vise needs to hold the front shock absorber through bolt and nut installation according to the illustration provided. Before applying force on the front coil spring use Special Service Tools: 09727-30021, 09727-00010, 09727-00021, and 09727-00031 to fully compress it without using power tools. Start by taking out the front support to front shock absorber nut before removing successively the front suspension support sub-assembly followed by the front suspension support dust seal and the front coil spring upper seat together with the front coil spring upper insulator and front coil spring and front spring bumper and front coil spring lower insulator and finally the front shock absorber assemblies.
