    Q:
How to install the Front Cross-Member on Toyota Matrix? Posted by Customer
    A:
The installation of the 4WD front suspension member requires first installing the front lower suspension arm LH followed by the front lower suspension arm RH using the same approach. You should first attach the center engine mounting member sub-assembly with four bolts before adding the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly with four bolts and then the front suspension member sub-assembly with a single bolt combined with two nuts. Use the steering link assembly to connect the assembly before installing the No. 1 front stabilizer bracket LH with two bolts torqued at 24 Nm (245 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf). The procedure should be repeated for the No. 1 front stabilizer bracket RH. Apply Special Service Tool: 09670-00010 into reference holes of the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly while tightening bolts A to 113 Nm and B to 157 Nm and C to 52 Nm and nuts D to 52 Nm during multiple tensioning stages. The center engine mounting member sub-assembly requires fully tightening four bolts that include torquing bolt A to 60 Nm (612 kgf-cm, 44 ft-lbf) and bolt B to 81 Nm (826 kgf-cm, 60 ft-lbf). The front hook assembly requires two bolts to be torqued to 39 Nm (398 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf). After which install the front lower suspension arms LH and RH through this same procedure. The mechanic attaches the under covers LH and RH to the engine space before installing the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly and the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly. After positioning the front wheels directly ahead, install the column hole cover silencer sheet before torquing front wheels to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). The suspension needs stabilization followed by full tightening of both front lower suspension arms LH and RH with this same method and concluding with an inspection of the front wheel alignment.

    Q:
How to remove the front cross-member on Toyota Corolla? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to removing the front cross-member involves placing the front wheels in a straight-ahead position then securing the steering wheel. Begin by taking out the column hole cover silencer sheet before distinguishing the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly. The next step requires users to eliminate engine under covers starting from both left to right before removing front wheels. The first step includes breaking apart the tie rod end sub-assemblies at both the left side and right side locations followed by dividing the front stabilizer link assemblies at both sides before continuing. Next proceed with separating both front lower suspension arms from both the left and the right sides. You must detach the 3 bolts and 3 nuts holding down the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly before using a transmission jack to support it and then unfastening the 4 bolts. Support the transmission during removal of the front hook assembly by eliminating its 2 securing bolts. Warner motorists should detach the center engine mounting member sub-assembly by removing all 4 bolts. Users of TMC vehicles need to detach the front suspension member dynamic damper bolt yet other vehicles only require disassembly of the front suspension member dynamic damper. You need to take out the front stabilizer bar and steering link assembly after removing the front lower suspension arms that you must remove from both left and right sides using the same method twice.

    Q:
How to remove the Front Cross-Member on Toyota Matrix? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by orienting the steering wheels directly forward before securing the wheel to proceed with removing the 4WD front suspension member. Start by taking off the column hole cover silencer sheet followed by dividing the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly from the No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly. The first step consists of wheel removal before handling the engine under covers from both left and right sides. Both front lower suspension arms should be separated on the left and right sides with the same step-by-step method. Loosen the front suspension crossmember sub-assembly first by disassembling one bolt and two nuts and then insert the transmission jack or equivalent to support it before unboltting the four attachment points. You should remove the two bolts which secure the left-side No. 1 front stabilizer bracket and repeat this procedure on the right side. The front suspension crossmember sub-assembly removal starts by extracting the steering link assembly before unbolted the four crossmember fasteners. After securing the transmission using a transmission jack or equivalent you can unscrew the two bolts along with the front hook assembly. Start by removing the center engine mounting member sub-assembly through bolt extraction of the four bolts. Both front lower suspension arms can then be detached from their positions on their corresponding left and right sides after performing the identical procedure for each.
