  The first step to replace an oil filter on a 2GR-FE engine involves draining engine oil through removing the oil filler cap followed by the oil drain plug while allowing the oil to collect in a container. After cleaning the drain plug replace it with a new gasket then torque it to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf). The next step requires attaching a hose through a 15 mm (0.59 in.) diameter pipe to extract the oil filter drain plug from the oil filter cap while making sure to install the O-ring it towards the oil filter cap end before hushing the tube inside. Empty all oil from the system before you take out both the pipe and O-ring. Point the pipe according to the marked arrow. Use tool 09228-06501 for removing the oil filter cap followed by taking out the oil filter element and O-ring after ensuring not to use tools on the O-ring to protect the cap's surface. Before oil filter installation start by treating the cap's O-ring groove as well as its threads and internal surface with engine oil. Then put the new O-ring in position on the cap ring before installing it. The procedure requires installation of a new oil filter element followed by cleansing the installation surface before coating the O-ring in light engine oil and finally installing the oil filter cap with Special Service Tool: 09228-06501 that requires torque setting to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf) while checking for part clearance. Apply torque of 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) to the oil filter drain plug while carefully checking the O-ring for interference during the process. First start by replacing the oil filter element with a new one while cleaning the installation surface with another engine oil application before re-installing the oil filler cap then starting the engine before checking both oil filter cap and drain plug connections for leakages.
