    The protocol to install the park/neutral position switch assembly for the A246E automatic transaxle involves mounting the switch to the manual valve shaft then holding it in place with 2 temporary bolts. The installation requires placing a new lock plate with subsequent tightening of the nut until reaching 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) torque. Install the control shaft lever temporarily while rotating it first counterclockwise until it stops then clockwise 2 notches before removal. Place the groove against the neutral basic line and maintain the switch position while tightening both bolts to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). Install the control shaft lever along with the washer and nut to the proper torque level of 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) through screwdriver-driven nut staking of the lock plate. Connect the park/neutral position switch into its power connector. The transmission control assembly requires first attaching the control cable to the control shaft lever through the nut while securing the cable to its bracket using the clip and doing so in a proper way. The bolt-down of the battery carrier requires 13 Nm torque strength (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) using 4 bolts, then add the battery to the vehicle. Review and check the shift lever positioning together with the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly when completed.

To finish the operation remove the two bolts followed by pulling out the switch.
