2009 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the Park/Neutral Safety Switch Assembly for the U140F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: Before installing the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly for the U140F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE you must connect it to the manual valve shaft and loosely install the 2 bolts. You should now install a new lock plate followed by tightening the manual valve shaft nut to reach 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf). After attaching the control shaft lever temporarily one should turn it counterclockwise until it stops and further turn it clockwise to reach the second notch then remove it. Apply the groove to the neutral basic line while using the switch position before securing the 2 bolts at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf torque). Install the control shaft lever along with its washer and a screwdriver-staked nut, then tighten it up to 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). Afterwards connect the switch connector. The transmission control cable assembly requires connection to the bracket using a new clip before attaching it to the control shaft lever using the nut while tightening it to 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Place the battery carrier followed by the battery before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal. To conclude the repair process you need to check and adjust the shift lever to the right position followed by an inspection of the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly.
