How to remove the Neutral Safety Switch from the U140F automatic transmission / transaxle on 2009 Toyota Matrix?

The first step to remove the Neutral Safety Switch from the U140F automatic transmission / transaxle requires disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. The first action entails removing both the battery and battery carrier from these components. Multiple steps are needed to separate the transmission control cable assembly by first removing the nut which disconnects it from the control shaft lever and secondly removing the clip which disconnects it from the control cable bracket. To unmount the park/neutral position switch assembly first detach its connector then loosen the nut while removing the washer and control shaft lever afterwards unscrew the lock plate with a screwdriver before taking out both the lock plate and nut. To finish the operation remove the two bolts followed by pulling out the switch.
