The first step in installing the back window stay assembly is to check the rear
Wiper Motor assembly axis with the centering jig since removing this assembly will change the axis location. The back window stay bolt requires cleaning its threaded surface on the vehicle body with non-residue solvent before torquing to 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf). Install the back window bolt after applying Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or an equivalent thread-based adhesive on the threads. Two stop rings must be installed when installing the back window stay assembly but the assembly must be supported by hand during installation. The hood support assembly must be engaged into its ball joint to prevent movement. Execute the removal of back window upper trim panel assembly while also taking off back door trim covers (both LH and RH, with and without power back door) and back door service hole cover (if applicable) and power back door rod disconnection when required. The technician should take out back door trim panel assembly while eliminating rear wiper components which include shaft cover, arm head cap and arm and blade assembly, link cap and link pivot and motor assembly. The service requires reinstallation of the rear wiper motor assembly with its components before installing the back door trim panel assembly and assist straps and covers while verifying proper attachment at each step.
