A correct procedure to replace the front seat outer belt assembly begins by disconnecting the battery cable and waiting ninety seconds to eliminate Air Bag deployment risks. The procedure starts by removing the access panel rear
Weather Strip followed by lap belt outer anchor cover and next the access door inside handle subassembly then cup holder followed by access door trim board subassembly and completed with center pillar upper garnish. Begin the process by unfastening the through anchor nut at the front outer seat assembly before proceeding to detach connectors and removing two bolts, two hooks, and retractor hardware at the RH side. The pretensioner connector requires release while the tension reducer connector needs disconnection followed by removing both bolts and two hooks and the retractor from the LH side. The front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly removal process begins by uninstalling its bolts as well as the hook and shoulder belt anchor adjuster. To install the shoulder belt anchor adjuster place the hook into the body hole and install it provisionally using two bolts before tightening the upper bolt first then the lower bolt up to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Mount the front seat outer belt assembly after checking that the retractor position allows proper locking. Install the RH lower retractor stay to its body hooks then provisionally attach it with two bolts and precisely torque bolt A to 8.5 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf) and bolt B to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Secure the pretensioner connector by connecting it then performing the locking function. To install the lower stay of the retractor on the two body hooks for the LH side, first tighten bolts as specified and second secure the pretensioner connector after locking the locking button. The tension reducer connector installation requires the through anchor to get tightened to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Shoulder anchor smooth rotation must be verified while the ELR checks for belt locking under quick pull forces. Negative outcomes from this procedure require replacement of the front seat outer belt. Reinstallation of the center pillar upper garnish needs to be completed before the access door trim board subassembly and cup holder along with access door inside handle subassembly and lap belt outer anchor cover and access panel rear Weather Strip. The cable must connect to the negative battery terminal using a torque of 3.9 N.M with an inspection of the SRS warning light required.
