Toyota Camry Axle Shaft Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the axle shaft on Toyota Camry?
A: Begin the axle shaft work by protecting the hub bearing with Special Service Tool 09608-16042 when you need to support the vehicle weight on it. Take off the front wheel and front fender apron seal with 103 Nm of torque to prepare the axle shaft installation. Unlock the device shaft by first taking off both pins from the cap. Once the brake is activated you can unscrew the nut with 294 Nm torque using the recommended tools. Empty oil from the gearbox or automatic transmission then detach the tie rod end from steering knuckle and lower Ball Joint from suspension arm. Push out the front axle hub by striking on the drive shaft with a plastic hammer then put fabric beneath the drive shaft boot to shield from damage when disconnecting the drive shaft from axle hub. Apply gear oil to components as you secure the left-hand drive shaft with the hammer and brass bar. Put the snap ring into the differential case opening then test for 2 to 3 millimeters of movement and check if only tools can detach it. Use a screwdriver to take out the snap ring from the inside joint shaft. To take out the RH bearing lock bolt apply 32 Nm torque then loosen the snap ring and drive shaft with pliers while applying gear oil at both shaft faces. Return installation steps in opposite order of removal and confirm the ABS speed sensor function as you test front wheel alignment.
