The first step for Cylinder Head Gasket No. 2 replacement involves stopping gasoline from leakage. Disassemble the chain sub-assembly and exhaust front pipe assembly No. 2 and manifold stay No. 2 using the removal of their respective 3 bolts. Begin by disconnecting the A/F sensor connector followed by removing 6 nuts that separate exhaust manifold from the gasket for taking out the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH. Begin the body of work by disconnecting sub-assemblies No. 1 and No. 2 of the fuel pipes and then detach the intake manifold followed by water by-pass joint RR and finally chain vibration damper No. 1 through its 2 bolt removal. After pushing down chain tensioner No. 3 and inserting a 1.0 mm pin remove the camshaft timing gears together with timing chain No. 2 (LH bank) from the engine while the hexagonal portion of the camshaft must be held in place with a wrench to unfist the 2 bolts and timing gear assembly. Release chain tensioner assembly No. 3 before properly removing the camshafts with a method to maintain their horizontal position to prevent any damage. Uniform bolt removal from the 16 bearing cap results in extraction of the 8 bearing caps and 2 camshafts. Beginning with a ground cable separation and subsequent 2 cylinder head bolt loosening, proceed to remove the 8 cylinder head bolts in the correct order until the cylinder head can be lifted from the dowels onto wooden blocks. Begin by placing the cylinder head gasket on its surface and then install the 8 cylinder head bolts with light engine oil on the threads before stepwise tightening to reach 36 Nm torque and front-side paint marking for each bolt before retightening them 180 degreres and installing the 2 additional cylinder head bolts at 30 Nm torque. The ground cable needs reinstalling with 8.0 Nm of torque. Install the camshafts in level position then set crankshaft correctly while applying new engine oil on the camshafts before installing the 8 bearing caps with 16 bearing cap bolts receiving specified torques based on head thickness. Following the installation of assembly No. 3 chain tensioner comes the installation of camshaft timing gears and No. 2 chain alternating the marks properly while tightening all bolts to 100 Nm. We need to install chain vibration damper No. 1 together with water by-pass joint RR and intake manifold and fuel pipe sub-assemblies No. 1 and No. 2. Mount the LH exhaust manifold assembly with its new gasket before securing the 6 nuts to 30 Nm torque specification followed by installing manifold stay No. 2 and its 3 bolts to 40 Nm torque. Then install the exhaust front pipe assembly No. 2 along with the chain sub-assembly. The last procedure includes inspecting fuel and exhaust gas leaks while using Special Service Tool: 09843-18030 to measure engine idle speed and evaluating CO/HC levels.
