2010 Toyota Camry Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and replace the rear shock absorber on 2010 Toyota Camry?
A: The process to change the rear shock absorber begins with taking out the rear seat cushion assembly then proceeding to remove the rear seat headrest assembly and the rear center seat headrest assembly. Continue by removing the separate type rear seatback assemblies for both the LH and RH sides, together with the rear side seatback assemblies for both sides. Start by taking out the rear wheel then disconnect the rear stabilizer link assembly LH by removing its nut while using a 5 mm hexagon wrench on the stud when the ball joint turns with the nut. Unplug the rear speed sensor by unfastening its 2 bolts and then remove the rear brake flexible hose and rear speed sensor from the combination of rear shock absorber with coil spring and rear axle carrier while ensuring the removal of the rear speed sensor from the rear shock absorber. Start by removing the 4 claws from the rear suspension support No. 1 cover before using the position wrench to break the lock nut of the rear shock absorber with coil spring. Gently remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts from the lower side of the rear shock absorber while avoiding bolt rotation and maintaining one bolt inserted for hub and disc rotor retention. To disconnect the device proceed by unscrewing upper rear shock absorber nuts then let the rear axle carrier drop before completely removing lower bolts from the shock absorber which permits disconnecting the speed sensor.
