2010 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the radiator on 2010 Scion xD?
A: Start by installing the radiator drain cock to the radiator assembly then proceed with radiator reserve tank hose grommets and radiator support cushions. The installation process requires placing the 2 radiator support cushions followed by the 2 radiator reserve tank hose grommets onto the radiator assembly. The setup starts with engaging two claws to attach the fan shroud followed by installing the water filler sub-assembly through a clip to secure two bolts at 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf). Lastly, connect the radiator reservoir tank hose. Mount the radiator assembly on to the vehicle by engaging the 2 claws while avoiding unnecessary pressure on cooler condenser assemblies or piping before attaching the cooling fan motor connector and installing its wire harness clamp. Put the radiator support sub-assembly upper into place with 5 bolts that need torquing to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) before connecting the horn assembly connector. Begin by applying 2 clips to the No.1 cooler cover and proceed by attaching the hood lock assembly through 3 bolts with torque setting 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf). Finally install the hood lock control cable assembly with 2 clamps. The technician should connect the No. 2 radiator hose with its clip together with the outlet No. 1 oil cooler hose and the inlet No. 2 oil cooler hose. Installation of the air cleaner assembly follows the No. 1 radiator hose connection and radiator support upper absorber installation which precedes front bumper cover installation. Engine coolant insertion comes before the adjustment process of the hood lock assembly using the method of 3 bolt loosening and striker entry positioning and a final bolt tightening at a torque level reaching 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf). Check for any potential leaks of engine coolant during the last inspection step.
