2010 Scion xD Exhaust Manifold Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the exhaust manifold on 2010 Scion xD?
A: As a first step to remove the 2ZR-FE engine exhaust manifold you should disconnect the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor. The process begins with removing the engine under cover from the right-hand side before continuing with front exhaust pipe dismantling. Owners should drain automatic transaxle fluid when their vehicle has this transmission or manual transaxle oil when their car uses a manual gearbox. Start by removing the front wheel of the vehicle and then unscrew the right-hand nut fixing the front axle shaft. You will need to uninstall the right side front speed sensor and afterward detach the right side tie rod end sub-assembly. In this step remove the front stabilizer link assembly from the right side before proceeding to take off the right-side No. 1 front lower suspension arm sub-assembly. After separating the right side front axle assembly technicians should remove the drive shaft assembly on that same side. First drain the engine oil then remove the 4 bolts from the No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator. Next remove the manifold stay by taking off the 3 bolts. Take off the 5 nuts from the exhaust manifold before removing the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator by disconnecting its 3 bolts.
