2010 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Catalytic Converter sub-assembly on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The installation process for an exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly on the 2AZ-FE emission control system begins by putting the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator in place using 2 bolts which must reach a torque of 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). After you install the No. 1 manifold converter insulator using 4 bolts which should be torqued to 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). The exhaust manifold should be fastened through new gasket material using the proper order for tightening its nuts then torqued to 37 Nm (377 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf). Secure the manifold stay with a bolt and nut before securing the No. 2 manifold stay through its bolt and nut while maintaining torque values at 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 33 ft-lbf). Fitting the front exhaust pipe assembly should be performed by using four bolts along with two compression springs. One should first mount the air fuel ratio sensor followed by the No. 1 exhaust manifold insulator. Inspection for exhaust gas leaks should be completed before installing the No. 1 engine under cover.
