2010 Scion tC Shock Absorber Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the rear shock absorber with coil spring on 2010 Scion tC?
A: The correct procedure to uninstall the rear shock absorber with coil spring begins with taking out the tonneau cover assembly followed by the removal of the deck board assembly and back door scuff plate and deck floor box LH and RH in that order. Remove the rope hook together with the rear No. 1 floor board and rear seat cushion assembly and rear seatback assembly. Start by taking off the front door scuff plate together with No. 1 luggage compartment trim hook and No. 1 side trim assembly and finally handling both No. 2 deck side trim hook and deck trim side panel assembly. The next step includes taking out the rear wheel followed by disconnecting the skid control sensor wire which requires uninstalling both the connector and bolt and wire bracket. The removal procedure for the rear stabilizer link assembly LH starts with a nut removal until the ball joint reveals movement alongside the nut where a h5 mm hexagon wrench stabilizes the stud. The process for removing the rear stabilizer link assembly RH should be completed according to the same procedure as the LH side. Start the rear shock absorber with coil spring removal by supporting the suspension No. 1 arm LH and removing the bolt and nut from the No. 1 suspension arm LH while maintaining the nut position. Proceed first by removing the three nuts and then the three bolts together with the suspension lower brace LH. First disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable by removing its 2 bolts then take off the 3 bracket LH suspension arm bolts. To finish the process locate the shock absorber with coil spring and remove it by lowering the No. 1 suspension arm LH outside the vehicle.
