2010 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the front shock absorber on 2010 Scion tC?
A: Start the replacement process for front shock absorbers by taking off the wheel from the front of the vehicle. Start by taking off front wiper arm head caps and then the wiper arms with their blades from the left-hand and right-hand sides. Remove first the hood to cowl top seal and the cowl top ventilator louver from the left-hand side. Use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud if needed when disconnecting the front shock absorber with coil spring from the front stabilizer link assembly on the left by supporting the front No. 1 suspension lower arm with a jack and removing the nut. Reverse the procedure of left-hand front speed sensor disconnection when you remove the bolt then separate both front No. 1 flexible hose and speed sensor while fully removing everything from the shock absorber assembly. Start by removing the front suspension support dust cover followed by loosening the lock nut that stays in place before removing the 2 lower shock absorber nuts as you maintain the bolt insertion. Begin by removing the 3 upper shock absorber nuts followed by lowering the jack slowly then completing the operation by taking off the lower 2 bolts and shock absorber coil spring keeping the speed sensor fully disconnected.
