Shock Absorber, Rear Passenger Side

The coil spring reassembly of the rear shock absorber requires the use of Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 along with 09727-00010 to compress the coil spring with caution because an impact wrench will damage the tools. You should install the coil spring onto the shock absorber by inserting its lower end into the gap found in the spring lower seat. First install the suspension support LH and No. 1 spring bumper LH before setting the coil spring insulator upper LH onto the spring front bracket LH. You should position the spring front bracket LH together with the coil spring insulator upper LH where the illustration indicates making sure that both the RH and LH sides match each other. Place the temporary center nut onto the suspension support LH and dashboard bushing while keeping it briefly fastened before removing the Special Service Tool. Han a 6 mm hexagon wrench keep the piston rod stable while using the tool to torque the nut until it reaches 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf). The shock absorber should be finished by installing its cap.

The first step to disassemble the rear shock absorber with coil spring involves removing the rear shock absorber cap. Operation of Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 and 09727-00010 provides spring compression through a method that excludes impact wrenches because they could harm the tools. Use a 6 mm hexagon wrench as a holding tool for the piston rod before taking off the nut. First free the No. 1 shock absorber cushion washer then take off the suspension support LH followed by the spring front bracket LH followed by taking away the No. 1 shock absorber cushion and after that remove the No. 1 spring bumper LH and finally remove the coil spring insulator upper LH and the coil spring.

Insert the 2 bolts from the front side of the vehicle and attach the shock absorber to the steering knuckle.

Apply MP grease No. 2 to the indicated parts, install the suspension dust cover, and reinstall the front speed sensor LH and stabilizer link assembly LH (torque: 74 Nm), followed by the front wheel (torque: 103 Nm), cowl top ventilator louver, hood to cowl top seal, and both front wiper arms and head cap.

Remove the front suspension support dust cover.

Reinstall the front wheel and complete the assembly by installing the cowl top ventilator louver LH, hood to cowl top seal, both front wiper arms, and the front wiper arm head cap, and inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment.

Take off the front wiper arm head cap, followed by the front wiper arm and blade assembly on both the left-hand and right-hand sides.

Begin by removing the tonneau cover, deck board assembly, back door scuff plate, deck floor boxes (LH and RH), rope hook, rear No. 1 floor board, rear seat cushion assembly, rear seatback assembly, front door scuff plate, No. 1 luggage compartment trim hook, No. 1 side trim assembly, No. 2 deck side trim hook, and deck trim side panel assembly, followed by the rear wheel.
