2010 Scion tC Neutral Safety Switch Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the Park/Neutral Safety Switch Assembly for the U241E Automatic Transaxle on 2010 Scion tC?
A: Before installing the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly for U241E Automatic Transaxle start by fixing the switch onto manual valve shaft then secure the 2 bolts in place through temporary installation. The installation process includes attaching the new lock plate followed by tightening its nut to 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf) torque. Proceed by mounting the control shaft lever with a temporary clockwise rotation until resistance occurs followed by counterclockwise movement of two notches prior to its removal. Place the groove at the neutral basic line before you tighten the 2 bolts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The lock plate should be secured with the screwdriver while tightening the nut and washer with the control shaft lever until it reaches 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). Connect the switch connector. The control cable bracket must receive both control cable and clip components before connecting the cable to the control shaft lever using a nut. The technician must install the Engine Under Cover LH to adjust the shift lever position before checking the shift lever position. Check the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly then link its cable to the battery terminal that is negative. An initialization procedure must be performed which necessitates specific attention for particular systems whenever you disconnect and reconnect the cable at the negative (-) battery terminal.
