2009 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the Park/Neutral Safety Switch Assembly for the U241E Automatic Transaxle on 2009 Scion tC?
A: The first step to install the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly for the U241E Automatic Transaxle involves attaching the switch to the manual valve shaft and installing the 2 bolts only temporarily. Fasten the new lock plate by tightening the nut until it reaches 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf). The control shaft lever needs to be fitted temporarily and turned counter-clockwise until it reaches its stop point followed by two clockwise notches before removal. The installation process requires positioning the switch with the groove at the neutral basic line followed by holding the switch steady and torquing the 2 bolts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Use a screwdriver to stake the nut with the lock plate before inserting the control shaft lever and washer and nut which requires a torque of 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). Connect the switch connector. You should install the control cable along with its clip on the control cable bracket before attaching the control cable to the control shaft lever using the nut. Put on the Engine Under Cover LH while performing shift lever position adjustment before inspecting the position. Examine and attach the Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly cable to the negative battery terminal. The procedure finishes with an initialization step after cable removal and reattachment to the negative (-) battery terminal since specific systems need this action.
