2009 Toyota Venza Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the park/neutral safety switch assembly for the U760F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE on 2009 Toyota Venza?
A: You need to position the shift lever at N while matching the protrusions of the park/neutral position switch before putting in the switch assembly for the U760F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE. Install the switch onto the control shaft by using 2 bolts which should be torqued at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Check that the control shaft contains no trace of dirt or rust before installation while maintaining a straight installation so the plate spring does not become deformed thus rendering proper reinstallation impossible. It is important to verify that both protrusions on the switch line up after the installation process. The control shaft lever needs to be attached to the control shaft through spacing a washer and a nut. Torque the assembly to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) before connecting the connector to the park/neutral position switch. The transmission control cable has been connected to its bracket through a new clip and extends to the control shaft lever and is fastened with a nut which requires 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) torque. The connection between the air cleaner bracket and chassis requires two bolts tightened to 7.8 Nm (80 kgf-cm, 69 in-lbf). The wire harness clamp should be equally secured during this process. Next follow the installation sequence for air cleaner case sub-assembly then air cleaner filter element sub-assembly followed by air cleaner cap sub-assembly then inlet air cleaner assembly and finally cool air intake duct seal. The operator should check both the park/neutral position switch assembly and shift lever position while fixing any encountered issues.
