2009 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Vapor Canister on 2009 Toyota Tundra?
A: The first step to remove the Evaporative Emission Control Canister starts with disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable followed by waiting at least 90 seconds post-ignition to record memory and settings in the navigation system. First remove the wiring harness clamp bracket and pump module connector and purge line hose connections and air inlet line hose before removing the canister assembly through its nut. Follow the below steps for removing the air inlet line hose: step one is to push it towards the canister while pinching portion A and step two is to pull it out using only the hands. Inspection for foreign matter and dust contamination should be conducted on the canister while the hose receives cleansing if needed to avoid harming the O-rings and possible leaks. Expect contamination around the valve and connector while disconnecting the vent line hose by pinching its retainer and raising it without using tools. To proceed disconnect the wire harness clamp followed by the removal of the four bolts which fasten the canister in place.
