    A: The first step for Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring replacement requires disconnecting the battery cable then allowing at least 90 seconds to pass for security against Air Bag or seat belt pretensioner activation. Position the front tires in a straight ahead direction. The technician removes the No. 2 steering wheel cover lower followed by the No. 3 steering wheel cover lower. The next step requires removal of the steering pad assembly together with the steering wheel assembly. Remove the steering column cover after other steering column components are taken off. To finish the process disconnect the Air Bag connector while maintaining the Air Bag wire harness free of damage and detach the 3 claws to take out the clock spring.
