2009 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Clock Spring assembly on 2009 Toyota Prius?
A: The installation of the clock spring assembly begins by steering the front wheels straight and placing the turn signal switch into neutral to protect the pin from damage. The installation of the clock spring requires removal of the lock pin during replacement before connecting the Air Bag connector to the wire harness without damage. Pan the clock spring with counterclockwise motion until it reaches the firm position before making a clockwise rotation of about 2.5 turns to match the markings and refrain from rotating the Air Bag wire harness. Position the steering wheel assembly followed by the steering pad assembly and then install the No. 2 and No. 3 steering wheel cover lowers. Inspection of the steering pad assembly takes place after reattaching the cable to the negative side of the battery. The procedure requires battery reconnection after which users need to initialize affected systems before checking the SRS warning light. Examine the steering wheel position for correct installation completion.
