2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the power steering pump on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The power steering pump removal and replacement process starts by disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable but requires at least 90 seconds of wait time to disable the SRS system; specific systems need system initialization after reconnection. The front wheel RH along with the front fender apron seal front RH must be separated from the V-bank cover sub-assembly followed by removing the air cleaner hose assembly and the air cleaner assembly. Start by draining power steering fluid and then remove the fan and generator V belt before detaching the suction hose from the vane pump by sliding its clip free from its mount. The power steering oil pressure sensor connector needs to be removed through wire harness clamp removal and connector detachment. This is followed by disconnecting the pressure feed tube with its bolt and gasket removal. To finish the uninstallation you must remove the vane pump assembly through separating its two securing bolts.
