2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Fuel Door Release Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Fuel Door Release Cable on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step for removing the Fuel Door Release Cable includes disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable while waiting a minimum of 90 seconds to disable SRS system functions. Start by taking out the front seat assembly LH and RH units followed by removing the rear No. 2 seat assembly RH from the vehicle. The removal process starts with the rear cushions' Number 3, 5 and 2 and 4 hinge covers and then continues with the rear Number 1 seat assembly on both sides along with their respective rear cushion hinge covers. The technician must disconnect and remove the instrument side panels LH and RH together with front door scuff plates LH and RH, cowl side trim boards LH and RH, rear step cover, and rear door scuff plates LH and RH. Next remove the No. 2 air duct plug then proceed to take out the air heater guide LH and air duct plug along with air duct guide, rear No. 1 and No. 2 seat protectors and the rear console box sub-assembly even if the vehicle has a cool box. The removal steps involve taking out the front floor carpet assembly, rear floor mat rear support plate, rear step cover, No. 1 luggage compartment trim hook, rear seat cover cap and front quarter trim panel assembly RH. Begin the procedure by unmounting and removing the No. 1 woofer box speaker assembly and the front door scuff plates that are attached to both LH and RH sides. Use counter-clockwise motion to detach the fuel filler opening lid lock retainer by first turning the cable and then the lock retainer. Use a screwdriver to disconnect fuel lid lock control cable clamps which leads to the removal of fuel lid lock open lever sub-assembly after removing its 2 claws and disconnecting the fuel lid lock control cable. Wrap the screwdriver tip with tape before any operation.
