When dismantling the back window stay assembly avoid touching the piston rod to prevent any foreign material from sticking on it because cotton gloves should be avoided since they can lead to gas leaks. Also refrain from placing any horizontal force on the window stay to stop piston rod deformation. Using tape-wrapped screwdriver remove the stop ring from the groove before the ball joint release enables removal of the back window stay assembly with hand support to the back door. Complete the procedure by taking out the back window stay bolt.
