The procedure to remove the back door lock begins with disconnecting the back window upper panel trim. Begin by removing the back door trim cover on left-hand side unless vehicle has power back door function then remove back door service hole cover on left side followed by disconnecting power back door rod. On the left-hand side remove back door trim cover followed by right-hand trim cover then the glass hatch type door lock cover along with the assist strap hole cover and strap assembly. Take off the back door trim panel assembly as the next step of the procedure. Owners of vehicles without power back doors should disconnect the connector and remove the three bolts to remove the back door lock assembly. A vehicle with power back door functions requires removing the connector before dislodging the clamp and using tools to remove four bolts from the back door lock assembly.
