2009 Toyota Corolla Clock Spring Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2009 Toyota Corolla?
A: The process of discarding Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring begins with reading all safety instructions carefully. Start by positioning the front wheels to face forward before removing the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and waiting for a minimum period of 90 seconds until the SRS system becomes disabled. Begin by removing first the lower No. 3 steering wheel cover and subsequently the lower No. 2 cover together with the steering pad. The following procedure requires the elimination of steering wheel assembly together with the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly. Disconnection of the connector and removal of the horn button wire sub-assembly is required when vehicles lack both steering pad switch and cruise control system features. Next remove both the lower steering column cover and following it up with the upper steering column cover. It is essential to disconnect the clock spring from VSC vehicles only through carefully removing wire harness connectors that also protects the Air Bag wires while disengaging the clock spring's 3 claws. You must first disconnect the connectors of the clock spring with steering angle sensor while taking precaution of the Air Bag wire harness during this process then free the 3 claws to extract the clock spring with steering angle sensor. To take out the clock spring from the steering angle sensor users should first disengage 6 claws and two pins.
