Before removing the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring you should disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal then wait at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag deployment. Begin by positioning the front wheels in a straight-ahead position before proceeding with correct methods to remove the No.2 and No.3 lower steering wheel covers. Afterwards disconnect both the steering pad and steering wheel assembly from the vehicle. The two screws holding the lower steering column cover need removing before you can separate it by unclipping its two claws. After that detach the upper steering column cover using the released claw. Drain the Air Bag connector followed by the clock spring sub-assembly connector while maintaining care for the Air Bag harness and detach the 3 claws to remove the clock spring sub-assembly.

The procedure for removing the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring starts with disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by a minimum 90-second wait to ensure Air Bags stay disabled. Begin by positioning the front wheel tires in a straight direction while you follow proper removal directions to take off the steering wheel covers which are numbered No.2 and No.3. After disconnecting the steering wheel assembly remove both the steering pad. Use a screwdriver to remove the lower steering column cover by separating its 2 screws and 2 claws. The removal process starts by disconnecting the claw holding the upper steering column cover. The procedure ends with disconnecting the Air Bag connector and the connector of the clock spring sub-assembly while being cautious of Air Bag harness damage and removing the clock spring sub-assembly by releasing the three claws.

Install the upper and lower steering column covers, the lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly, and the horn button wire sub-assembly by connecting the connector.

Remove the glove compartment door assembly, front upper console box, No. 2 switch hole base, console box carpet, and front console box assembly (for both 2WD and 4WD).

Disengage the claw.

Remove the lock pin if replacing it with a new one.

The pin may snap if not properly aligned.

Ensure the front wheels are straight, set the turn signal switch to neutral, install the spiral cable sub-assembly with 4 screws, and remove the lock pin if replacing it.

Secure the steering column cover with 3 screws.
