2009 Toyota Avalon Drive Belt Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to properly install the Drive Belt on 2009 Toyota Avalon?
A: The first step for V-ribbed belt installation on 2GR-FE engines involves setting the belt on all pulleys with the exception of the tensioner pulley. Special Service Tool: 09961-00950 permits the counterclockwise turning of the belt tensioner to eliminate the bi-hexagon wrench. Additionally you can ease challenging belt installation by rotating the tensioner counterclockwise to unlock tension before fitting the V-ribbed belt onto all tensioner pulleys. Check the correct placement of the V-ribbed belt backside on tensioner and idler pulleys before making sure each pulley has the belt properly in position. The installation order starts with the V-bank cover sub-assembly followed by the front fender apron seal RH and ends with the front wheel RH which should be tightened to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) torque.
