2008 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to properly install the Drive Belt on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: The first step in installing the V-ribbed belt on the 2GR-FE engine requires placing it on every pulley except the tensioner. You need Special Service Tool: 09961-00950 to turn the tensioner belt counterclockwise until you can remove the bar. Workers should turn the tensioner pulley counterclockwise to reduce tension when it is difficult to install the V-ribbed belt onto the tensioner pulley. Before tightening the V-ribbed belt check that its back edge fits correctly on both the tensioner and idler pulleys and each pulley receives proper belt placement. After you install V-bank cover sub-assembly proceed with front fender apron seal RH and conclude installation by tightening front wheel RH to 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
