2007 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the drive belt on 2007 Toyota Avalon?
A: For drive belt service and repair operations start by taking out the front wheel Right-hand along with the front fender apron seal Right-hand and V-bank cover sub-assembly. Individuals must use Service Tool 09249-63010 to loosen the belt tension with the counterclockwise rotation of the tensioner before taking the V-ribbed belt off the tensioner. A technician should turn the belt tensioner counterclockwise to align its holes before inserting a 5 mm bi-hexagon wrench for fixing the V-ribbed belt tensioner. Use Special Service Tool 09249-63010 to measure the V-ribbed belt's condition for wear and tear and frayed cords therefore a replacement becomes necessary. The rib side of the part can have minimal cracks but the replacement is required if any substantial rib pieces are missing. Verify that the new belt snugly fits into the ribbed grooves without escaping the pulley grooves at the bottom of the crank. An engine-operated V-ribbed belt qualifies as new if it remains in use for less than 5 minutes yet a belt becomes used when it functions for 5 minutes or longer with the engine running. After engine start-up permit the system to continue operating while monitoring the belt tension for 5 minutes. Test the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly through clockwise and counterclockwise motion to confirm that no obstacles are present; replace the tensioner unit if it shows a faulty condition. Set the V-ribbed belt onto all pulleys except the tensioner pulley before letting the tension free to mount the belt properly onto the tensioner pulley. Mount the back of the V-ribbed belt onto the idler pulley and tensioner pulley maintaining proper set alignment on each pulley. After installing the front fender apron seal RH and front wheel RH it is necessary to tighten the components to a torque of 103 N m (1,050 kgf/cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
