Q: How to install the front crankshaft seal on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Application of MP grease on the lip of the new oil seal is the first step for front crankshaft seal installation on 1GR-FE engines. Apply Special Service Tool: 09226-10010 together with a hammer to gently push the oil seal so its surface matches the timing chain cover edge. Install the crankshaft pulley by using Special Service Tool: 91651-60855 and 09213-54015 together with Special Service Tool: 09330-00021. First install the fan with fluid coupling and then install both the fan and generator V belt. Tighten the fan using fluid coupling before putting on the radiator support seal upper portion. Secure the cable connection to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf). The engine under cover sub-assembly should receive four bolts which need to be tightened to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf). Finish the process by attaching the V-bank cover through 2 nuts which require a torque of 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf).
