How to service and repair a crankshaft seal on 2008 Toyota 4Runner?

Start the repair process of crankshaft main bearing seal by taking out the automatic transmission assembly no matter it is for 2WD or 4WD. Insert Special Service Tools 09213-70011 and 09330-00021 into the crankshaft holding position to eliminate the drive plate and ring gear assembly. Afterward extract the 8 bolts to achieve removal of the front spacer and drive plate and rear spacer. The removal process for the engine rear oil seal requires you to cut the lip with a knife and gently extract the oil seal with a screwdriver while keeping the crankshaft free from damage. Protection of the crankshaft can be achieved by wrapping tape onto the screwdriver tip.
