2007 Toyota 4Runner Crankshaft Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front crankshaft seal on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Service and repair of the front crankshaft seal starts after disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. Start by removing the V-bank cover followed by taking out all 11 clips from the upper radiator support seal and then detach the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly through its four bolts. Begin by adopting Special Service Tools 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021, 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05030) to remove the fan with fluid coupling and the crankshaft pulley while sequentially removing the generator V belt and the fan with fluid coupling. Remove the timing gear case or timing chain case oil seal by delicate manipulation with a screwdriver that has tape wrapped around the blade to protect the crankshaft from damage. When installing the new oil seal apply MP grease to its lip before using Special Service Tool: 09226-10010 to hammer it into place until it reaches the timing chain cover edge. Install the crankshaft pulley with Special Service Tools 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021 after which you should install the fan with fluid coupling and then proceed with the fan and generator V belt assembly. Tighten the fan with fluid coupling to full torque before installing the upper radiator support seal while following it with reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal with 3.9 Nm torque (40 kgf/cm, 35 in. lbs.). The mechanic must check for engine oil leakage before restoring the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly using 4 bolts torqued to 29 Nm (296 kgf/cm, 21 ft. lbs.) and finish by installing the V-bank cover with 2 nuts tightened to 7.5 Nm (76 kgf/cm, 66 in. lbs.).
