2009 Scion xD Coil Springs Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove and replace the front shock absorber with coil springs on 2009 Scion xD?
A: The process of replacing a front shock absorber starts by removing the front wiper arm head cap then proceeding to take off both left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies. Start by removing the hood to cowl top seal before continuing with the removal of both right and left cowl top ventilator louvers. First remove the front wiper motor and link then disconnect the right front air shutter seal followed by the outer cowl top panel. Begin by removing the front wheel before disassembling the front stabilizer link assembly through nut removal and unconnecting it from the shock absorber using a socket hexagon wrench 6 to avoid movement of the stud. The next step involves disconnecting the speed sensor along with the front flexible hose by removing its bolt. First remove the front suspension support dust cover followed by separating the front shock absorber with coil spring by removing its 2 nuts and 2 bolts to disconnect it from the steering knuckle while carefully maintaining the bolt non-rotational during nut removal. You need to use a socket hexagon wrench 6 to fix the shock absorber rod and remove its nut and your next step involves taking out the No. 2 suspension support to finally remove the front shock absorber with coil spring from the vehicle.
