2009 Scion xD Shock Absorber Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring on 2009 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove the front shock absorber with coil spring requires removal of the front wiper arm head cap and left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies. Take off the hood to cowl top seal followed by the removal of right and left cowl top ventilator louvers. The technician should disconnect the front wiper motor and link and then remove the right front air shutter seal and outer cowl top panel. The user must detach the front wheel before removing the connection between the front stabilizer link assembly and shock absorber through nut removal. The process requires socket hexagon wrench 6 for holding the stud if the ball joint turns with the nut. The speed sensor needs the removal of a bolt to divide the speed sensor from the flexible hose followed by the removal of the front suspension support dust cover. To extract the front shock absorber with coil spring, remove first the 2 nuts and 2 bolts which connect it to the steering knuckle while maintaining the bolt stable before using a socket hexagon wrench 6 to detach the shock absorber rod and its nut, then separate the No. 2 suspension support and remove the front shock absorber with coil spring from the automobile.
