2008 Scion xD Shock Absorber Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the rear shock absorber on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove a rear shock absorber requires you to detach the rear wheel. Secondly you need to take off the rear absorber cap followed by the removal of the rear shock absorber cap. A jack should support the axle beam but a wooden block must be placed between the jack and the rear axle spring seat to prevent damage. Unscrew the 2 nuts while securing the piston rod from spinning and detach the cushion retainer together with the suspension support. The bolt removal next to the rotating nut will let you detach the shock absorber but ensure you move the nut from the bolt side because the lower portion contains a jam nut. End the process by removing both rear suspension support stopper and rear suspension support assembly.
