• Q: How to install the rear shock absorber on 2010 Scion xD?

  A: The installation process starts with attaching the rear suspension support assembly together with the rear suspension support stopper. Tighten the rear shock absorber provisionally through jack-assisted support of the axle beam and use a wooden block between the front edge of the jack and the rear axlespring seat to avoid damage. Apply a slow and temporary installation of the shock absorber (lower side) to the axle beam using its bolt and nut combination. After that position the suspension support followed by the cushion retainer. Use the piston rod for rod stabilization while installing the specified lower nut which requires 15 to 18 mm (0.591 to 0.709 in.) range then proceed to tighten the new upper nut kept under 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf) torque while maintaining rod grip.
