2009 Scion xB Clock Spring Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2009 Scion xB?
A: The Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring removal process must begin by facing the front wheels directly forward. The negative battery cable needs detachment before waiting a minimum of 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag activation. Proceed by removing the steering pad then take out both the steering column cover and steering wheel assembly. When removing the clock spring disconnect first the horn connector then advance the slider to separate the Air Bag connector before detaching the steering sensor connector. Disassembly of the clock spring requires you to separate the three retaining claws. As part of this procedure a steering angle sensor requires removal also.
