2009 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear Air Bag sensor on 2009 Scion xB?
A: The first step for installing the rear Air Bag sensor involves switching off the ignition and disconnecting the negative battery terminal to stop any mishap-triggered Air Bag deployment on the sensor. The body hole receives the hook before securing the Air Bag sensor with a bolt then torqueing the bolt to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). It is essential to select a rear Air Bag sensor that did not incur any drops or impact during its manufacturing process. A test for sensor loose connections can be done by shaking the sensor before connecting the Air Bag wires. Continue with the installation of the deck trim side panel assembly RH, rear seat back hinge sub-assembly, rear seat outer belt assembly RH, luggage hold belt striker assembly, and various other components including rear deck trim cover, rear door opening trim Weather Strip RH, rear door scuff plate RH, rear seatback assembly RH, rear seatback assembly LH, rear seat cushion with cover pad sub-assembly, deck floor box RH, deck floor box LH, rear deck floor box, and rear floor carpet assembly. The connection process requires application of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) torque to the negative battery terminal using the cable. Afterwards review the SRS warning lamp.
