2009 Scion xB Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2009 Scion xB?
A: Repositioning the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly requires disconnecting the negative cable terminal of the battery and waiting for ninety seconds to evade Air Bag activation. Beginning with removal of the Manual Transaxle shift lever knob sub-assembly you will continue with instrument cluster finish center lower panel as well as front No. 2 console box insert and the front No. 1 console box insert. After that step remove the lower panel from the instrument panel finish while working. The Automatic Transmission requires removal of transmission control cable assembly and the Manual Transmission needs additional removal of transmission control cable assembly. Both Automatic and Manual Transaxles require the shift lever assembly removal as the next step. The removal process for the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly must start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal before continuing to take out the Air Bag sensor through the steps of lifting the lever to release the connector holder followed by bolt removal.
