2010 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you install the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2010 Scion xB?
A: Installation of the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring must begin when the ignition is OFF and the negative terminal is removed along with a 90 second wait before work starts. Check that the front tires point forward and the turn signal switch has no power to prevent damaging the turn signal pin. You need to use the three claws to install the clock spring by removing the lock pin during replacement of the clock spring with a new one. Shortly after, link up the Air Bag connector alongside horn connector and steering sensor. To center the clock spring you must first lock it by turning it counterclockwise and then proceed by making 2.5 clockwise turns from the locked position toward alignment of the center marks. Connect the steering column cover and the installation steps follow with the steering wheel assembly and steering pad. The instructions require front wheel alignment and specify the cable connection to the negative terminal using 5.4 Nm of torque (55 kgf-cm or 48 in-lbf). Check if the SRS warning light indicates correct functioning before completing the inspection.
